On January 31, 2017, FACC-Michigan Executive Director Stephanie Salvadero was invited by student member Claire Gordon to speak to the University of Michigan Freshman Business Club about her French-American background, experience, academic and career progression, and tips for success. Stephanie spoke to a room full of approximately 25 students about her experience living and studying in both the United States and France, time as a student and young professional in both countries, and her part-time role and responsibilities as FACC-Michigan Executive Director alongside her full-time position as Regional Marketing Manager with Clark Hill PLC, a national full-service law firm and FACC-Michigan member.
Before going into an open Q&A session with the students, Stephanie shared five key takeaways that, in her experience, have helped her along her way: go into a field where you can enjoy what you do; set yourself up for success by choosing a field where you play to your strengths; seek opportunities (i.e. student associations, volunteer work, part-time jobs, etc.) to build skills and discover what you do and do not like while in college; learn to network and talk with professionals about their careers and jobs to get a concrete idea of what roles and responsibilities may look like in a future position; be curious, ask questions, and network.
