The FACC’s J-1 Visa Program
Members of the FACC are eligible for the great benefit of hosting J-1 trainees.
The J-1 visa is issued for certain trainees including college students, business trainees, trainees in flight aviation programs, primary and secondary school teachers, college professors, research scholars, medical residents or interns receiving medical training in the U.S., certain specialists, international visitors, and government visitors. The J-1 visa is very desirable for a business that wants to make use of a trainee while giving the trainee training and an important cultural understanding of the US.
The French-American Chamber of Commerce has helped prepare thousands of international young professionals and students for a future in the global economy. Each year, our International Career Development Programs (ICDP) department sponsors highly skilled young people, ages 18 to 35, for J-1 visas and provides trainee placement opportunities with U.S. and French FACC members.
The FACC has special authorization by the U.S. State Department to sponsor eligible trainees on a J-1 visa by issuing the Certificate of Eligibility, Form DS-2019. With this document, a foreign candidate with the offer of a training program from a company in the United States may apply for J-1 visa at the U.S. embassy in Paris. The J-1 visa allows participants in our program to come to the United States for up to 18 months for full-time, paid, practical training at an eligible FACC member company.
Once we receive a properly completed application, the FACC can usually obtain a Certificate of Eligibility within one week! The issuance of a Certificate of Eligibility allows the trainee to make an appointment with the US Consulate in the France to reserve a visa. The interview and visa process can be accomplished in ads little as to weeks. More information is available at www.ccife.org/usa/new_york/.
Obviously, the FACC’s J-1 visa program can give your company a critical advantage in securing a trainee quickly. It is available only to companies that are members of the FACC, have a link to France and meet certain other requirements.
A valuable benefit for FACC members!
